General
Please respect our
office hours.
If you cannot come
to office hours please make an appointment with the instructor or the TA.
Use e-mail for
simple inquiries about exams, reading, handouts and the like; come to office
hours if you have questions regarding class content.
In
the classroom
Feel free to ask questions in class.
Come to office hours or sections if you have questions above and
beyond those addressed in class.
Come to class on time!
No cell phones, pagers, or disruptions of any kind during class.
If you miss class for whatever reason, it is your responsibility
to be informed about what was covered (e.g. ask a classmate for their notes,
consult webct for announcements and handouts).
Do not come to our office hours expecting a run-down of what we
did in a class that you missed.
Take-home exams
You may work together on the final essay if you wish, but if you
do, this should involve only discussion. All written work
must be your own. If you hand in an essay that closely resembles work handed in
by anyone else in this class or in previous courses like this one, it will be
considered cheating. This will automatically result in at least no credit for
the assignment in question, possibly also failure of the course, and you will
be referred to your dean for disciplinary action. This is university policy and
there will be no exceptions.
Late essays (or other exams or quizzes) will not be accepted
(unless you have good reasons for not being able to submit an exam on time and
these are explained to the instructor well in advance of the exam due date).
Essays longer than the set limit or not following other format
requirements will not be accepted.
