About SLab
- The UCSD Speech Laboratory (SLab for short) provides resources for research in the production and perception of speech to the faculty and students of the Department of Linguistics, and to other interested affiliates of UCSD and visitors. SLab has facilities for acoustic, physiological, and perceptual research.

- SLab is welcoming Amanda Ritchart who joined us in September 2011 with a B.A. in Linguistics from UCLA.
- Amalia is an invited speaker at Lab Phon 13 in the Rhythm and Temporal Structure session.
- Both Page Piccinini and Amalia Arvaniti presented their work at the 2012 LSA meeting (Portland, OR, January 5-8, 2012); click here for Piccinini and Arvaniti abstracts.
- Amalia Arvaniti organized a special session titled "Speech Rhythm in production, perception and acquisition" at the 162nd ASA Meeting that took place in San Diego (10/31-11/4/2011). For the program, see sessions 3pSC and 5aSCa. SLab connected papers include 3pSC3. Speech Cycling in Korean (Younah Chung), 3pSC2. Comparing envelope- and interval-based rhythm metrics (Amalia Arvaniti & Sam Tilsen), and 5aSCa3. Rhythm, tempo and F0 in language discrimination (Tara Rodriquez and Amalia Arvaniti).
- Two more SLab papers were presented at the 162nd ASA meeting, 4aSCb15. The production of Spanish-English code-switching (Page Piccinini) and 4pSCb28. Pragmatically determined variation in Greek wh-question intonation (Stella Gryllia, Mary Baltazani, Amalia Arvaniti).
