About SLab
- The UCSD Speech Laboratory (SLab for short) provides resources for research in the production and perception of speech to the faculty and students of the Department of Linguistics, and to other interested affiliates of UCSD and visitors. SLab has facilities for acoustic, physiological, and perceptual research.

- SLab is welcoming Amanda Ritchart who joined us in September 2011 with a B.A. in Linguistics from UCLA.
- The ASA presentation of Tara Rodriquez and Amalia Arvaniti titled "Rhythm, tempo and F0 in language discrimination" has been selected for posting on the ASA's "World Wide Press Room". For a copy of this lay version of their work see ASA "World Wide Press Room".
- Amalia Arvaniti will be giving three talks at OSU and the Modern Greek Studies Association conference, on October 12 (Linguistics, talk titled "Romani Intonational Phonology"), October 13 (MGS program, talk titled "Prosody and Communicative Competence") and October 14 (MGSA special session titled titled "Teaching Greek as a Second Language—The Phonetic Side", talk titled "The Role of Prosody in Achieving Communicative Competence in L2 Greek").
- Amalia Arvaniti is organizing a special session at the upcoming 162nd ASA Meeting in San Diego, titled "Speech Rhythm in production, perception and acquisition." For the program, see sessions 3pSC and 5aSCa.
