Chinyanja
Chinyanja, also known as Nyanja or Chewa, belongs to the Bantu group of the Benue-Congo family of languages. It is a major language of both Malawi and Zambia, and is also used in Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. . In Malawi, where it is known as "Chewa", it is an official language, and spoken by more than half the population, or about 4 million people. In Zambia, it has official status as the language of the police and Zambian regiment. A total of about 6 million people speak Chinyanja as a first or second language.
